Palazzo di Varignana

Wrapped in the silent magic of the Bolognese hills, Palazzo di Varignana rises above the town from which it takes its name. At the heart of the resort is Palazzo Bentivoglio, a countryside castle with four traditional towers dating back to 1705, meticulously restored to preserve its historical charm. The main historic building is surrounded by a contemporary village built in stone, designed with an architecture that harmonizes seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Spanning 30 hectares, the estate is a haven of natural beauty, featuring vast green spaces, breathtaking views, and the magnificent Ornamental Garden, which is part of the prestigious Grandi Giardini Italiani network.

Palazzo di Varignana is a unique and sustainable hospitality model, boasting 150 rooms, five restaurants, and elegant spaces for ceremonies, events, and conferences, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The resort also offers a 360-degree wellness experience, with over 4,000 square meters of Varsana SPA, tailored remise en forme programs based on the Acquaviva Method, sports facilities, and outdoor trails.

The restoration project that led to the revival of Palazzo Bentivoglio has gradually extended to the surrounding area. Palazzo di Varignana has committed to restoring ancient farmhouses, transforming them into six luxury villas, while also enhancing the land’s value by establishing its own agricultural estate. Today, this estate spans 500 hectares, producing high-quality, farm-to-table products and introducing a new rural hospitality concept with Country House Oliveto Sul Lago, an agritourism retreat featuring a swimming pool and 12 rooms.

A true flagship of this story is the resort’s dedication to reviving ancient olive tree varieties. Today, the olive groves stretch across 200 hectares, with over 750.000 trees, allowing for the production of exceptional extra virgin olive oil, recognized and awarded worldwide.
